I have a headcanon that Metal Sonic recused Shadow and locked him up to make the Shadow Androids, and after Sonic Heroes, Eggman decided to try and gaslight Shadow into working for him using the androids

Bristow gave Robotnik such a presence in every game he VA'd him in. He portrayed a evil, calculating, cold, megalomaniac genius so perfectly that I don't think any other actor has come close to replicating it. He's the voice I always hear reading the IDW comics.

I always found this cutscene a product of Eggman's good side. It is within his interest to care for the world, even if he seeks to conquer it... Or specifically, because he seeks to conquer it. I love the fact that in Tails’ story near the end it was the BEST moment where he realizes he can’t rely on Sonic all the time to save the day, he feels confident to take out all by himself and when he does the crowd cheers for him.
